Call for Contributions

The 2nd ACM International Conference on AI-powered Software (AIware) is pleased to invite submissions to the Arxiv Track. This special track uniquely supports the dissemination and discussion of the most recent research findings that may not yet be published in traditional peer-reviewed conferences and journals. It enables researchers to present their innovative work promptly, ensuring that the community can discuss and build upon cutting-edge ideas without the delays associated with conventional publishing cycles. Accepted submissions will NOT appear in the proceedings.

Topics of Interest

We invite submissions of high-quality ArXiv papers. While submissions do not need to be available on ArXiv at the time of submission, the works should be made available on ArXiv before the conference date.

Submissions should address, but are not limited to, the following questions:

• How would future software look like in the FM era?

• How to integrate legacy software in future AIware?

• Do existing programming models (e.g., object-oriented or functional programming) and SE practices (e.g., test-driven development and agile) remain suitable for developing and maintaining software in the FM era?

• What roles do autonomous agents play in the development and maintenance of software in the FM era?

• How will inner and open source collaboration evolve in the FM era?

• What kind of release engineering practices do we need for FM-powered software applications? Are LLMOps comprehensive enough to capture the release engineering needs of AIware in the FM era?

• How do we debug and monitor AIware in the FM era?

• How should we change SE curriculum, training and mentoring in the FM era?

• How to evolve FMs from the perspective of AIware and its makers in the FM era?

• How do human interactions and perceptions shape the development and implementation of AIware in the FM era?

• How do we measure and improve the trustworthiness of AIware in the FM era?

• What are the implications and effectiveness of foundation models in improving software engineering practices and outcomes?

• How does AIware impact developer productivity?

New this year

[New!] To encourage the submission of high-quality works that may not yet be available on ArXiv, this year we will also support articles that are not posted to ArXiv. However, to facilitate transparency, these submissions should be made available on ArXiv at the time of the conference (November 19, 2025).

Review Process

Each submission will undergo a rapid review by the PC chairs of AIware main track (Jenny T. Liang and Maliheh Izadi). The emphasis will be on the novelty, impact, and relevance, of the research to the conference themes. The inclusion of publicly available supplemental materials, datasets, or artifacts is also a positive factor. If you have questions, please contact Jenny and Maliheh.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a page or word limit for submissions to the ArXiv Track?

No. There are no explicit page or word limit for submissions that will be enforced. However, keeping the length of the manuscript will be helpful to ensure the length of the paper is commensurate to its contribution. Authors can consider the following guidelines from the Main Track:

• Full-length papers (i.e., case studies, theoretical, applied research papers): 6 - 8 pages;
• Short papers (i.e., vision papers, new idea papers, and position papers): 2 - 4 pages;
• Literature reviews and surveys: 14 - 20 pages.

Is there a required template or class I should use?

No. There are no specific requirements for papers that are posted onto ArXiv. To submit articles not available on ArXiv, all authors can consider using the official “ACM Primary Article Template” as can be obtained from the ACM Proceedings Template page. LaTeX users should use the following latex code at the start of the LaTeX document: \documentclass[sigconf]{acmart}.

Should the submission be anonymized?

No. The submission does not need to be anonymized, as we expect the manuscripts to be publicly available on ArXiv.

Are there policies on supplemental materials, datasets, or artifacts?

There are no explicit policies about supplemental materials, datasets, or artifacts. However, they are highly encouraged to be created and referenced in the manuscript. Including supplemental materials, datasets, or artifacts will be seen as a positive factor while evaluating the manuscript.

How should I submit my manuscript to the ArXiv Track?

Closer to the submission date, there will be an online form where authors can either submit a public ArXiv link to their work. If the work is not yet uploaded publicly, we will also include a form field where you can upload your manuscript as a PDF file.
